An almost tortured and truly unsettling image.
Here we struggle to locate some meaning out of the scarred and broken rubble of symbols and ideas of our common language.
Distorted and shattered by the successive waves of revolutionary iconoclast revision we are left with the rubble of meaning in an open grave of cultural deconstruction.
New symbols are pasted over the old in layer upon layer of discarded ideas and beliefs, while the most fundamental western symbol becomes a lurid spectre of our own confusion.
The cross is red and broken, reminiscent of both telegraph lines and the signs of the battlefield as all other is lost in the tangle of history.
